The Edge Climbing Program

Free for CWU students & Rec. Center members • $10 per session for non-members
Looking for an opportunity to continue climbing this winter? Wishing you could use the CWU Climbing Wall even though you're not a Recreation Center member? The Edge Climbing program may be your answer. Space is limited for this program. Availability is on a first come, first served basis so sign up today for this eight-week offering.
Access to the rest of the facility is prohibited.

OPR's Vertical Challenge: How many feet can you climb in 28 days?
$40/team • Must register by Jan. 19
Teams of two have 28 days to see which team can climb the most vertical feet on the CWU Climbing Wall. Prizes will be given to the teams that compile distances comparable to Mt. Stuart (9,415 ft), Mt. Rainier (14,411 ft), Mt. McKinley (20,320 ft) and Mt. Everest (29,029 ft).
Must be top-rope belay certified.
Climbing Certifications are required to belay other participants. These are annual certifications that provide you clearance for the CWU indoor climbing program only. Please check with climbing staff in order to arrange an exam time. Exams can be requested during any open hours and it is up to the staff's discretion/availability to offer the exam.
Top-rope Belay Certification Exam
During Open Climbing Hours • Climbing Wall • $5
All climbers must annually pass a belay certification exam in order to belay other participants on a top-rope belay system.
Lead Climbing Certification Exam
During Open Climbing Hours • Climbing Wall • $6
All climbers must annually pass a lead climbing exam in order to climb or belay other participants on a lead climbing belay system.
