CWU is recognizing World AIDS Week, Nov. 26 - Dec. 1, by encouraging everyone to “Get Tested, Live Longer.”
During this week there will be numerous organizations tabling in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) giving away free condoms and providing information about HIV/AIDS, including where to get tested, preventative care, personal safety, the social impact on certain groups and how the community as a whole can become more informed.
Everyone is invited to the free screening of “We Were Here,” Thursday, Nov. 29 at 4 p.m. in the SURC Theatre. This film takes a look at the impact of HIV/AIDS on the population of San Francisco, particularly how the disease affected the gay community. A discussion facilitated by Dr. Kimberly McBride, CWU Department of Physical Education, School and Public Health, will follow along with free pizza.
For more information, please contact the Wellness Center at 509-963-3213 or wellness@cwu.edu.
This event is sponsored by the CWU Public Health Club, Wellness Center, Equality through Queers and Allies (EQuAL) Club, Center for Diversity and Social Justice and Center of Leadership and Civic Engagement.
