Sexual health panel discusses the power of sex ed

"The Talk" is never easy to discuss. At the same time, it's important. It promotes a knowledgeable basis. And knowledge can be powerful.

"The Power of 'The Talk'" is a paneled discussion set to take place on Wednesday, Feb. 21 from 5 to 7 p.m. in the SURC Pit. Six Central Washington University faculty members and students will discuss the importance of sexual education within the black community, examine cultural difficulties that have arisen and promote an open dialogue.

Sexual Health Intern Jasmin Washington is coordinating this event. She hopes that students will walk away with a broader, more cultural understanding of what they can do to help promote sexual health and healthy relationships.

"This program is supposed to give awareness to the black community and give resources that students may use for the rest of their lives," Washington said.

This program is sponsored by the Central Washington University Wellness Center. For more information, contact Jasmin Washington at 509-963-3213.
