The Center for Diversity and Social Justice (CDSJ) is hosting a screening of the documentary “Good Hair and Other Dubious Distinctions” Monday, Feb. 25 at 3:30 p.m. in Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) 137 A&B. Admission is free and open to the public.
“Good Hair and Other Dubious Distinctions” examines the advantage people with certain physical features have over others. This film focuses on why traits like wavy hair, lighter skin and a slender nose is still considered more attractive in the black community, despite several movements seeking to liberate black self-esteem.
Following the film, Dr. Bobby Cummings and CDSJ staff and students will conduct a discussion panel to take a closer look at the issues presented in the documentary.
