For many high school girls, the night of prom is memorable and special. Central’s Student Fashion Association (SFA) plans to help make it more so for the girls of the area with the Fairy Godmother Project, Saturday, March 9 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Student Union and Recreation Center (SURC) Ballroom. There is a $5 cover charge for all attendees.
The Fairy Godmother Project began over five years ago as a way to make prom more affordable. Donations of new and gently used dresses will be sold for between $5 and $40, and some of these donations are worth over $100. New and gently used shoes and accessories will also be sold, and every attendee will be entered into a raffle for gift baskets comprising many items. In the past, these items have included massages and services from Bluestone and cosmetics. Many girls from the Kittitas Valley and Yakima attend and find the perfect dress.
