Dia de los Muertos

Friday, Nov 3, 2017
5:00 pm

It’s that time of the year for Día de los Muerto or Day of the Dead. Everyone is invited to join in on celebrating the Latino tradition of honoring the dead.

Four guest artists from Mexico will come and make their sand tapestries on Nov. 1 in the SURC Pit. Come and admire their artwork through Nov. 3.

The procession is on Nov. 3 at 5 p.m. It will start from the Barge Hall courtyard, the first of the three steps on campus, and will wind up in the SURC Ballroom for the rest of the fun at 6 p.m.

After the procession, keep the party alive by heading to the festival that will spark some action into your night. From watching the Aztec dances, to listening to Mariachi music, to arts and crafts, face painting, and so much more!

There will be food-vendors that are Cash Only. The food is worth the money though, so don’t put your wallet away just yet. Local food vendors, Juanita’s Mexican food and Genesis Churros and Tamales, are there for your stomach.

We are honoring the dead at this festival, if you have any loved ones who have passed away, then bring a picture of them and place it on the altar.

If you have any questions about the festivity, contact Veronica Gomez-Vilchis at
