Welcome to the Department of Psychology Research Study and Clinic Participation Pool. Most of our studies take place in the Psychology Building.
If you are ready to begin, click to log into our Sona Systems Research Board.
Students in most psychology courses must, as part of their course requirement, participate in psychology experiments. Experiencing research from the perspective of a research participant will add to your understanding of course material, particularly to "how" psychologists study behavior. Whether psychologists address issues of cognition, learning, neuroscience, social psychology, personality, or abnormal psychology, their insights are based largely on the results of empirical investigations, and it is important for students to appreciate fully the nature, strengths, and limitations of this approach. Our understanding of basic neurobiological, cognitive and social processes depends critically on studies of normal, healthy adults conducted by researchers working at universities. Your participation not only furthers your education about the nature of psychological research; it also makes a substantial, critical contribution to psychological research at CWU and to science in general. We hope students will find it an enjoyable, educational, and productive experience. Research credit may also be obtained for participating as a client in the Community Counseling and Psychological Assessment Center (CCPAC Participation).
All experiments offered will have prior approval from the University Institutional Review Board for Human Subjects. Though your name will be stored in the Sona Systems database (to receive credit), all participant information is deleted at the end of each quarter.
If you have any questions regarding the research process or are under 18 years old, please contact the research administrator prior to signing up for any experiments.
Central has such a strong research identity, it is often difficult for students to grasp just how much we do, and how much fun this can be. If you want read about more research conducted by faculty and students at conferences, click here.
