Microsoft Office 365 Project Summary

CWU is continuing to improve access to state of the art technology and is pleased to announce that we are moving towards Microsoft Office 365. In a nutshell, Office 365, hosted by Microsoft in the cloud, enables you to stay up-to-date and work wherever you are - on virtually any device.

This move to Office 365 will occur over three phases so keep an eye out for future communications about this initiative.

Phase 1 – Implement Active Directory (requires CWU faculty/staff to join your CWU PC/MAC to the Active Directory network)  Status:  Complete

Phase 2 – Replacement of GroupWise with Outlook/Exchange  Status:  Complete

Phase 3 – Deploy various other services delivered within Office 365 (such as SharePoint, OneDrive, Office Online, etc)     Status:  Waiting to Deploy Some Services

Office 365 is a Microsoft Exchange hosted solution that delivers the capabilities of Microsoft Outlook as a cloud based service.  It provides users a rich and familiar access to email, calendar and contacts allowing access by PC's, Mac, the web and mobile devices. 

  • Web access via Outlook Web App (OWA)
  • Mobile App access
  • Optional Mobile access available through Microsoft Exchange Active Sync on your mobile device.  The domain is, the exchange server is   


Use the below wizard to get personalized instructions for setting up your mobile phone or tablet to access your account.  If you mobile phone or device supports Exchange ActiveSync (also referred to as Exchange e-mail), it is designed to synchronize email, calendar, contact, task, and other information.
