The department envisions itself as providing an educational service with customers at both ends of the system: students wanting an education leading toward employment, and industry desiring employees to lead them into the future. The programs are based on a foundation of technical courses, math and science, communications, and liberal arts.

Graduate Student Studies Wind Power on Campus

CWU grad student Michael Waytuck is harnessing the Ellensburg wind for his master's project. With the help of university staff, Waytuck installed a wind turbine on the roof of the Hogue Technology Building and tied it into the campus power grid.


Student Receives EPA Grant

Justin Rodriguez, a Central Washington University student, received a $50,000 Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) fellowship for his research in environmental chemistry. He will be studying the effects of pollution from manufacturing processes and how they settle into soils.
