PORTLAND, Oregon — Sophomore Isaiah Davis, from Bremerton, a cornerback on the Central Washington University football team, has been named the Great Northwest Athletic Conference (GNAC)/Red Lion Hotels Defensive Player of the Week for the week of September 30 through October 6.
Davis, who attended South Kitsap High School, had three second-half interceptions and seven total tackles in helping the Wildcats preserve a 21-13 road win against Humboldt State University this past Saturday in Arcata, California. He broke up two other passes in the win and also netted a combined 84 all-purpose yards between his interceptions and his kick and punt returns.
Davis, who currently leads the Wildcats in interceptions and is tied for fourth in tackles, had previously been named the GNAC/Red Lion Hotels Special Teams Player of the Week following the Azusa Pacific game on September 28.
CWU returns home to Tomlinson Stadium this Saturday, October 12, for its annual Homecoming game. The Wildcats, who at 3-1 in GNAC play and 3-2 on the season are tied for first place in the conference standings, take on Dixie State University (2-3, 2-2 GNAC) at 1 p.m.
