8:30 a.m.-11:00 a.m. - Mitchell 202
Present: Jim Gaudino, Bill Vertrees, Ellen Hall, Libby Street, Tracy Pellett
I. Discussion Items
1. Budget planning
The PowerPoint for Friday´s budget forum was reviewed and discussed. Cabinet members offered feedback for the presentation. Dr. Street will make the changes/additions and distribute to Cabinet members to review again prior to Friday.
2. Hiring Process
Dr. Gaudino explained that he has received a great deal of feedback on search procedures recently. He has asked Dr. Street to chair a committee that will look at search processes across campus. He would like the committee to develop procedures on exceptions to searches as well. Cabinet members were asked to send Dr. Street suggested members to this committee as soon as possible. Dr. Gaudino added that he recently received the Summary of Initial Performance Expectations and Performance Evaluations report from December 31, 2008 and the numbers are not good. Cabinet members were asked to remind folks in their divisions to get the performance development plans completed in a timely manner.
3. Enrollment planning for spring and fall
Tabled until next meeting.
4. University assessment - Dr. Street
Dr. Street presented the University Assessment Plan. Cabinet members were asked to review the plan and send feedback to her as soon as possible.
5. Attorney General funding
Dr. Street explained that the invoices that the President´s Office receives from the Attorney General´s Office are not itemized, so it´s hard to know exactly who on campus is using these services. The President´s Office will be working with Alan Smith to get itemized invoices and will start charging departments back for these services.
6. PAC & Cabinet meetings (structure)
Dr. Gaudino reported that he is looking at the structure of the President´s Advisory Council group. He is thinking of making the group more of an advisory/recommending group as opposed to the policy-approving group. He suggested that he would like to have three possible groups: the executive team, Cabinet, which would include AVP´s, deans, etc., and a president´s advisory council/forum. He added that when specific topics are discussed by the executive team, additional folks will be called into the meeting. Cabinet members were asked to think about the suggested groups and provide feedback as soon as possible. This will be discussed again soon.
7. Spring reg hold list as of 3.8.09
Mr. Vertrees distributed the spring quarter registration hold list. The group reviewed and discussed the report. He added that this report is generated every week and will be shared with Cabinet members.
