Present: Jim Gaudino, Wayne Quirk, Bill Vertrees, Ellen Hall, Libby Street

Updates:

1. Summary of Planning Rendezvous:
Dr. Gaudino reported that the Planning Rendezvous went very well. Feedback from the community was very positive. The next step is to continue meeting with the community, staff, and developers on the future of CWU and the Ellensburg community. Dr. Gaudino asked Mr. Vertrees to develop a plan for our strategies. He added that the plan needs to be realistic and one that can be modified over time.

2. Summary of IPZ Meeting:
Dr. Gaudino reported that he and Mr. Vertrees recently attended an Innovation Partnership Zone meeting. This project would be a partnership between CWU (as the research piece), Kittitas County, the Economic Development Group, and globally competitive businesses (to be determined). The goal of the IPZ would be to bring together the partners in a Renewable Energy and Resource Natural Center that will serve as a high-technology research park and renewable energy business incubator. Discussions will continue on the project.

3. BOT:
Dr. Gaudino reminded the group that the Board of Trustees Retreat is July 30-31, 2009. Suggested topics for the retreat include: space planning including the Housing Master Plan and the new Barto Hall complex, board structure and processes, and university vision. Dr. Gaudino added that he would like to start using the board members’ individual talents, as well as working with them as a group. Additional planning for the BOT Retreat will be the main agenda item for the July 15 cabinet meeting.
