8:30 a.m. - President´s Office

I. Action Items
1. Approval of Cabinet Minutes from April 8, 2009
Motion to approve the Cabinet Minutes from April 8, 2009 as presented by Dr. Street. Seconded by Mr. Vertrees. No further discussion. Motion carried.
II. Discussion Items
1. Budget planning
Dr. Gaudino reported that he participated in a COP conference call last evening to discuss budget issues that came out of session yesterday. Terry Teale believes that a budget will be set by the end of session next week. Things may be worse than expected. Mr. Vertrees distributed information for the budget advisory committee that will be held later today. The group reviewed and discussed the information.
2. Enrollment planning
Dr. Tullos reported that Enrollment Management folks continue to press forward with recruitment. The fall 2009 enrollment numbers look good. The Open House for Admitted Freshmen was very successful and well attended.
3. Charge to Budget Advisory Committee
The group discussed the current charge to the Budget Advisory Committee. Discussions will continue regarding the membership of this committee.
III. Executive Reports
President:
Dr. Gaudino reported that Dr. Tullos suggested that the Cabinet group have a retreat soon to get to know each other and do some team building and icebreakers. Mr. Vertrees added that he would like to have a day meeting some time this summer to talk about space needs and projects happening on campus. In addition to Cabinet members, the consultants, the deans, other campus folks, and community members will be invited to attend. Dr. Street will be involved in planning this retreat. The group agreed that both retreats are a good idea and planning will move forward. Dr. Gaudino stated that the group should also have another emergency preparedness exercise facilitated by Steve Rittereiser. Ms. Dawson will work with Mr. Rittereiser to organize this. Mr. Vertrees added that a discussion with community leaders about the downtown issues is another meeting that should be scheduled soon.
IV. At 10:15 a.m.: Ann Anderson (phone call) - legislative update
Ann Anderson joined the group by phone to give an update on legislative issues. Shelly Johnson joined the group for this discussion as well. Basically, both the House and Senate budgets are worse than our worse case scenarios. The capital budgets are not available yet. The committee has been sequestered and no information has come out yet. Ms. Anderson reported that we should definitely have a final budget by the end of session next week.
