8:30 a.m. - President´s Office (Barge 314)

I. Discussion Items
1. Enrollment Planning
Dr. Street distributed several documents for review and discussion. Mark Lundgren joined the group to go over the numbers with the group. He will be checking the retention rates today and will get an update to cabinet members later today. The updated information on the enrollment matrix was reviewed and discussed. On the "register for classes" page, a link titled "hot classes" was added. Dr. Hall reported that they will be marketing the on-line courses for community members beginning winter quarter. The international student recruiter has been hired.
2. Policies & Procedures Manuals/reminder about process - Dr. Street
Dr. Street reminded folks that new or updated policies for the CWU Policies Manual must come to Kristy Magdlin in the President´s Office already written. The president´s office is not responsible for writing policy. The goal is to have the CWU Policies Manual reorganized and in good shape by this spring. This is in preparation for NWCCU Accreditation.
3. Planning for the Board of Trustees meeting
Judy Miller joined the group to discuss the October 3 Board of Trustees meeting. The committee and regular meeting schedules were reviewed and discussed. After the morning committee meetings, the board will participate in a mini demonstration at the ropes course. The appointing and contracting authorities were distributed for review. Please send changes to Ms. Miller as soon as possible. After talking with Kim Loranz, it was decided that we start taking minutes of the morning committee sessions as well as the regular board meeting. The vice president assistants will help with this.
4. Reporting on hiring, travel, etc.
Dr. McIntyre asked cabinet members to get their monthly reports on hiring and travel to her by October 1.
5. Performance evaluations
Dr. McIntyre reminded folks that their performance evaluations are due soon. She will start reviewing them November 1.
II. Executive Reports
Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs:
Dr. Quirk reported that Fall Faculty Day was held September 22 and approximately 252 faculty members attended. Discussions focused on faculty scholarship. The capital budget planning process is moving along. The Council of Presidents´ Provost group (ICAO) asked Dr. Quirk to continue as chair until the end of the year.
Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management:
Dr. Tullos reported that "Fred Meyer Night" was last night. She will have a report on numbers next week. "Bite of the Burg" was yesterday and it was well attended. Wildcat Welcome Weekend was a very successful weekend. Feedback has been very positive. Approximately 1450 new freshmen have completed the on line "Alcohol Wise" program. Dr. Tullos commended Elaine Ames on a wonderful job organizing Movers and Shakers. Housing numbers are huge. Forty percent of last year´s residents came back this year. Jesse Nelson took 50 new students on a leadership retreat in the mountains this past weekend.
Vice President for University Relations:
Dr. Hall reported that the search for the Interim Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs is winding down. They will be narrowing the finalists today and will be interviewing soon. The Alumni Newsletter was distributed. The Foundation Investment Committee meets October 17, the Foundation Board meets October 24, and the University Relations Staff Retreat is October 27.
Vice President for Business & Financial Affairs:
Mr. Corona reported that he will have a prototype on new signage soon. There will be a special Board of Trustees meeting on September 30 to approve the public school employees contract. There will be two sessions offered October 23 and 24 to train departmental personnel on university procedures for working with nonresident aliens. The workshop will introduce and explain the nonresident alien tax compliance policies and procedures and review the CWU policy and procedures. The desktop alert system has over 1700 students signed up as of yesterday. Carmen Rahm will give a "State of IT" report to the Board of Trustees on Friday. Bill Vertrees recently went to Washington, DC and met with Senator Cantwell regarding bio-fuel issues.
Chief Planning Officer:
Dr. Street reported that Joanne Hillemann and Bill Vertees recently attended a Headstart Board meeting to explain the process for the Family Resource Center. The HECB is pulling back on the time line for the performance agreements. The policy and demographics group is moving forward. They should have the statewide communication plan out soon. The NWCCU university-wide forum will be held October 9 at 4:00 PM in Hertz Auditorium. Dr. Street continues to work on the Washington State Quality Award.
Administrative Operations Coordinator:
Ms. Dawson gave an update on the Presidential Search. The committee is on track with phone and airport interviews. They hope to have candidates on campus at the end of October.
President:
Dr. McIntyre asked Dr. Hall to set up a meeting with the local Fred Meyer store as soon as possible. They would like to discuss the possibility of Fred Meyer carrying CWU logo products. Dr. McIntyre suggested that the Cabinet members´ assistants meet quarterly for information sharing. The group agreed that this was a good idea. Ms. Dawson will work on arranging the first meeting of the group.

Dr. Quirk reported that ABET accreditation is on track.
