I. Action Items
1. Approval of Cabinet Minutes from September 10, 2008.
Motion to approve the Cabinet Minutes from September 10, 2008 as presented by Dr. Hall. Seconded by Dr. Tullos. No further discussion. Motion carried.
II. Discussion Items
1. Enrollment Planning
Dr. Quirk reported that a handful of Art classes were canceled due to losing a tenured professor. There was nobody available in Art to teach these courses. These were general education courses, so the Registrar´s Office is working to get these students into other classes. Dr. Hall will start now to work with Tracy Terrell, Margaret Badgley, and Kevin Nemeth to try and figure out what to promote for winter and spring quarters. The group reviewed and discussed Tracy Terrell´s summary and the enrollment planning documents. Dr. Quirk reported that a couple of Math courses were recently added and they are looking to add some additional English 101 and 105 courses. He will follow up to see if it would be possible to add additional Chem 181 and Econ 201 classes. Dr. Hall suggested that once new courses are added, it would be good to add a link to "Register Now" Web page that shows the newly added courses. Infrastructure for ITV courses is in place as of this week.
2. Catalog format
Dr. Quirk asked for feedback on catalog format for the printed copy. It is being suggested that the catalog be organized by college instead of totally alphabetic. Then things would be alphabetic within each college. It was decided that this item would be discussed again when both Dr. McIntyre and Dr. Street were present.
3. Cindy Morana retirement
Dr. Quirk will represent CWU at the retirement dinner for Cindy Morana on October 9, 2008
4. Voluntary System of Accountability - Mr. Lundgren
Mr. Lundgren reported that AASCU is requesting that we participate in a project where we post our common data set on their website. They would also like us to post our NSSE results. The group agreed to wait and see what the other universities do before we decide to participate.
