President´s Cabinet

Wednesday, September 26, 2007
8:30 a.m. - Barge 314 (President´s Office)

Present: Jerilyn McIntyre, Rich Corona, Charlotte Tullos, Paul Baker, Libby Street, Tracy Pellett

I. Discussion Items

1. Photo Hunter - Dr. Street
Dr. Street explained that Kristy Magdlin was having a hard time finding new campus photos through the on line photo hunter. She needed updated photos for Dr. McIntyre´s State of the University Address PowerPoint. Dr. Baker suggested she work with Becky Watson. The database is being updated and added to constantly.

2. PAC ´s Cabinet on October 17 (See if Rich can preside at PAC, cancel Cabinet?)
Dr. McIntyre explained that both she and Dr. Soltz will be in Korea and Dr. Street will be on a NWCCU visit the week of October 15-19. The group decided that Mr. Corona will preside at PAC and Cabinet will be canceled that day.

3. Lifetime Donor List (Holiday cards) - Dr. Street
Dr. Street explained that Kristy Magdlin is beginning to work on the holiday card list and asked if Cabinet members and development office staff could help identify folks who should always be on our mailing. Dr. McIntyre added that we must make sure that folks who have given to the university regularly, but maybe not in the last couple of years, still receive a holiday card from us. Dr. Baker indicated that the development office can make sure this list includes these types of folks. He will follow up with Julie Cloninger regarding the mailing issues.

4. BOT Agenda
Ms. Miller joined the group to discuss the Board of Trustees agenda for October 5. Subcommittee agenda items and regular session agenda items were reviewed and discussed.

II. Executive Reports

Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs:
Dr. Pellett reported for Dr. Soltz. Academic Affairs is moving along with integrating assessment across the colleges. Each of the departments and the colleges are currently creating assessment plans. Academic Affairs is also working with Student Affairs and Enrollment Management on a comprehensive enrollment management plan.

Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs:
Mr. Corona explained that he spoke with Bruce Porter regarding entertainment contracts. Contracts are usually made with an agency not an individual speaker, so videotaping the entertainment is normally not allowed unless we pay extra for it. Mr. Corona reminded Cabinet members that they will have a working lunch with the Moody group on October 24 from 11:30-1:00 p.m. in Barge 410. The communication plan for the take down of Courson and Muzzall Halls was reviewed and discussed.

Vice President for University Relations:
Dr. Baker reported that the Alumni Office has been working with Amy Mumma and Kevin Nemeth on a CWU wine label through a Washington state winery. The idea is for sales from the wine to go to alumni scholarships. Marketing is gearing up for the Battle in Seattle on October 20. Athletic Alumni are planning a gathering prior to the game, and Alumni Relations will hold a gathering prior to the game as well. The Case Statements should be here by Friday. RSVP´s for the Gala are coming in.

Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management:
Fall 2007 mini stats were reviewed and discussed. Dr. Tullos stated that she will report on enrollment numbers next week after the 10th day freeze. Student Affairs and Enrollment Management staff is working with Tracy Pellett on enrollment management issues. The problem-solving group is busy working on beginning of the year issues.

Chief Planning Officer:
Dr. Street reported that the History Book project is coming along. A printer has been selected. Copies of the book should be available by the end of fall quarter. Glen Bach has done a wonderful job. A workshop for the climate commitment will be held soon. The accreditation process for Northwest Commission on Colleges and Universities (NWCCU) is moving along. Dr. Street will meet with each of the division councils regarding Standard One. A retirement party for Nancy Howard will be held today at 3:00 p.m. in Barge 412.

Administrative Operations Coordinator:
Ann Anderson asked Ms. Dawson to let Cabinet members know that the Ellensburg Chamber of Commerce is hosting a community reception for Lt. Governor Brad Owens on October 2 at 5:30 p.m. at the reception center at the Wild Horse Wind Farm. If Cabinet members cannot attend, please let Ms. Anderson know who will attend in your place.

President:
Dr. McIntyre reported that Delaware did a good job with their emergency preparedness during their recent emergency. Mr. Corona added that Steve Rittereiser and the emergency task force group will be looking at Delaware´s plan to see if we can adopt some of their procedures. The annual State of the University Address is Tuesday, October 2 at 2:00 p.m. in the Music Building Concert Hall.

1. Campaign - Dr. Baker reported that the campaign is moving along.

Mr. Corona: Rotary, Ellensburg Downtown Association, CWU football game

Dr. Tullos: Economic Development Group Executive Committee meeting, Hospital Foundation Board meeting, Hospital Foundation Planned Giving Committee meeting, hosted a scholarship lunch, Battle in Seattle planning committee meeting

Dr. Baker: Cascade Land Conservancy lunch, Chamber After Hours Awards, CWU football game, Kiwanis, Circle K, Kiwanis Board meeting

Dr. Street: no report

Dr. Pellett: no report
