President´s Cabinet

Wednesday, September 19, 2007
8:30 a.m. - Barge 314 (President´s Office)

Present: Jerilyn McIntyre, Dave Soltz, Rich Corona, Charlotte Tullos, Paul Baker, Libby Street

Guests: Mark Lundgren, Tracy Pellett

I. Discussion Items

1. At 8:30 a.m.: Mark Lundgren re: analysis of the trends in the National Survey of Student Engagement (NSSE) data over the past five years.

Dr. McIntyre explained that she asked Mr. Lundgren to do an analysis of the trends in NSSE data over the past five years. The group reviewed and discussed several charts that Mr. Lundgren prepared regarding the data. Mr. Lundgren reported that our response rate has been declining each year. We are allowed to advertise for this survey, so Mr. Lundgren and Dr. Pellett are researching ideas to try to improve our response rate. Dr. Pellett added that the information is useful in a larger picture. He added that now that we have seen the data, we should decide where we go from here. He suggested that we participate in the Noel-Levitz satisfaction survey in the future. Mr. Lundgren mentioned that he and Dr. Pellett have agreed to do the NSSE survey again this year and then plan to try the Noel-Levitz satisfaction survey the following year. Cabinet members agreed that this was a good idea.

2. BOT retreat minutes and committee assignments

Dr. Soltz explained that the minutes from the summer Board of Trustees retreat mention that the October 5 committee of the whole will have a presentation on courses and programs.
