Present: Jerilyn McIntyre, Dave Soltz, Rich Corona, Charlotte Tullos, Paul Baker, Libby Street

Guests: Geri Palmer-Nutt, Patrick Garmong, Steve Rittereiser, Julie Cloninger, Mandy Hanousek

I. At 9:00 a.m.: Geri Palmer-Nutt to introduce Patrick Garmong, new catering chef

Dr. McIntyre welcomed Geri Palmer-Nutt and Patrick Garmong. Ms. Palmer-Nutt introduced Patrick Garmong. He is the new Catering Chef. He came to Catering in 2003 as a student. He worked the front of the house serving and bartending and continued up the ranks very quickly to become a supervisor to events. He showed some interest and talent in the kitchen. In August of 2006, he went to New York to attend culinary school and now is on board full time with Catering. Mr. Garmong mentioned that he hopes to bring some new, fresh ideas to CWU catering. He plans to highlight the foods/wines that are available in Washington. Dr. McIntyre stated that all of the recent catering events have been wonderful. The desserts continue to be decadent. Ms. Palmer-Nutt encouraged Cabinet members to send feedback and comments regarding catering events to her any time.

II. At 9:30 a.m.: Julie Cloninger & Mandy Hanousek regarding "net community" for Development

Ms. Hanousek presented the "My Central" web page. They are proposing to move both the Development and Foundation web pages to this product. She added that a CWU graphics class created the banner on the main page. "My Central" is open to alumni and donors, so it's more for external audiences. Individuals will be able to sign up for events, pay memberships, donate, etc. On line donating is a very important marketing piece. They are hoping to do a soft launch for two weeks beginning today. Please send feedback and comments to Julie Cloninger as soon as possible.

III. Discussion Items

1. Memo from Staci Sleigh-Layman, Chair, EEA regarding Report of Outside Work Activity.
Dr. Street explained that this memo is a response from the Exempt Employee Association regarding the report of outside work activity. Due to the fact that there are still concerns with the form, the group agreed to have Sherer Holter and Michael Jennings revise the form to address the concerns. This item will come back to Cabinet at a later date.

2. Western Leadership Advantage
Dr. McIntyre distributed the minutes from the Western Washington University board meeting as an informational item. Dr. Tullos added that she is working with staff in her area to develop a catchy name for CWU's waivers.

3. Leadership Ellensburg Education Week
Leadership Ellensburg will be holding their annual education week at CWU on Friday, May 18. The group discussed the proposed agenda. Leadership Ellensburg folks will have lunch with Dr. Tullos and the ASCWU Board of Directors, meet with Bill Swain at the Ellensburg High School Excel Program, tour the Music building, meet with Bill Vertrees and Bill Yarwood regarding capital improvements, and then meet with Cabinet members at the end of the day. Ms. Dawson will arrange the lunch and finalize details with Robbie Soltz.

IV. Executive Reports

Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs:
Dr. Soltz reported that the NCATE visit is complete. The exit interview was held with the team this morning. A report will be back in 30 days. Academic Affairs is preparing for the reopen of the faculty collective bargaining agreement. A visiting delegation from Kyungdong University in Korea is here today and tomorrow. Senator Paull Shin is their host. A dinner for the group will be held at the President's Reception Center tonight and a signing ceremony will take place tomorrow at 11:00 a.m. in Dr. McIntyre’s office. The Annual Retiree Reception is today at 3:00 p.m. in Barge 412.

Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs:
Mr. Corona reported that the annual joint Cabinet and Ellensburg City Council meeting is scheduled for June 1 at 3:00 p.m. in Barge 412. Emergency planning and transit are two possible topics. If you have any other agenda ideas, let Mr. Corona know as soon as possible. Mr. Corona added that as soon as the governor signs the budget, Cabinet members need to have another budget discussion. Letters to the editors of the Daily Record and the Observer regarding emergency preparedness have been submitted.

Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management:
Dr. Tullos reported that we are at 1400 confirmations for freshmen for fall 2007. We are up 100 from this time last year. Transfers are down slightly, but this is happening statewide.

Vice President for University Relations:
Dr. Baker reported that the Foundation Board meets this Friday in Seattle. The agenda for the board meeting was reviewed and discussed.

Chief Planning Officer:
Dr. Street reminded the group to send their top three picks for executive interns to her this afternoon. The alumni tracking group continues to meet and address issues. Megan O'Malley is working with Matt Manweller on College Civics Week activities. Graphics is currently working on the design of the Economic Impact Study. It will be a 10-12-page booklet. Dr. Street hopes to have at least a mock up by the time Cabinet meets with the Ellensburg City Council. Dr. Street encouraged folks to make sure someone from each of their areas attends the presentations that Lee Davis is doing regarding postal changes. There are significant changes that folks need to be aware of.

President:
Dr. McIntyre reported that she received an invitation to Big Bend's Annual Cellarbration event on May 19. She is unable to attend, so asked if anyone could attend in her place. Dr. Soltz will see if Margaret Badgley can attend as CWU's representative. Dr. McIntyre asked that another emergency preparedness tabletop exercise be scheduled soon.
