Approval of PAC Minutes from 10/4/06
Motion to approve the PAC minutes from 10/4/06 as presented by Dr. Bowers. Seconded by Mr. Corona. No further discussion. Motion carried.
Approval of department name change: Flight Technology to Department of Aviation
Dr. Bowers clarified that the prefix in the catalog and quarterly class schedule books will either be FLT of AVIA. Motion to approve the department name change as presented by Dr. Tullos. Seconded by Mr. Corona. No further discussion. Motion carried.
Approval of summer session workgroup recommendations & proposed calendar
Dr. Street clarified that the only item being voted on by this group is the proposed summer calendar. Motion to approve the proposed summer calendar as presented by Dr. Street. Seconded by Dr. Bowers. No further discussion. Motion carried.

Shelly Johnson, Director of Budget Planning:
Ms. Johnson reported that the supplemental budget was recently submitted to the State. The two items being requested are utility cost increases and equipment for Disability Support Services. The Budget Office is also working on posting the initial allocations. They hope to have that process completed by the end of the week.
Staci Sleigh-Layman, Chair, Exempt Employee Association:
Ms. Sleigh-Layman distributed event information on "Storytelling." This schedule of events is part of the Diversity Training Initiative. They are also working to offer brown bag lunches with "storytelling" in January & February.

Jeffrey Dippmann, Chair, Faculty Senate:
Dr. Dippmann reported that the senate executive committee met recently with David Kaufman to discuss the proposed Blackboard policy. The senate academic affairs committee and the senate curriculum committee are both reviewing issues related to a double major policy. He added that senate committees are being charged with reviewing the actual need for them and their possible restructuring based on the faculty collective bargaining agreement. The senate is anxiously awaiting the final draft of the academic code. The executive committee will review it one more time and then take it to the senate. Senate bylaws are also being reviewed.
Carmen Rahm, AVP for Information Technology Services:
Mr. Rahm reported that the first university information technology advisory committee meeting is this Thursday, October 19. The committee now has full membership. ITS is currently working with Resnet folks on the possibility of offering a music service in the residence halls. They are also working with Facilities on options for additional space for the data center. October is Cyber Security Awareness Month.
Mr. Rahm attended EDUCAUSE, the international technology conference, last week.
Rebecca Bowers, Dean, College of Education & Professional Studies:
Dr. Bowers reported that the deans have completed their reappointment, promotion, and tenure standards. They are also discussing some sort of consistent review for lecturers. Work continues on merit criteria. Mary Selecky, Secretary of Health for the State of Washington, will be on campus Thursday, October 19 at 3:30 p.m. Her presentation is titled, "From Pandemic Flu to Tobacco Prevention: Health Education's Role in Protecting the Public's Health." Karen Blair presented on the History Book project last week as part of the CAH Speaker Series. She will also present to the CWU Retirement Association on October 25. NCATE is going extraordinarily well. The College of Business continues to work on AACSB accreditation, ABET accreditation is coming up, and the American Chemical Society (ACS) accreditation was just recently approved. All of the colleges are working together to expand programs at the university centers.
Karen Blair, Chair, ADCO:
Dr. Blair reported that the next ADCO meeting is in November. There continues to be great interest in how summer session profits will be allocated. The department secretaries will be invited to the next meeting to discuss the process of ordering computers through the WIN WIN project. There will also be a campaign update presentation by Julie Cloninger.
Jadon Berry, ASCWU BOD President:
Mr. Berry reported that Homecoming is in two weeks and many events are planned for the week. He also reminded the group to get their Battle in Seattle tickets for Saturday. The BOD is sponsoring 50 students to attend a luncheon with the Washington State Supreme Court Justices today. The S&A committee is hosting a social event for departments that are S&A funded.
Teri Olin, Marketing and Communications Coordinator:
Ms. Olin reported that the CWU-Wenatchee Grand Opening was yesterday. It went well and was very well attended. Becky Watson is currently in New York City visiting the Montel Williams show. A full report on this story will be made at the next PAC meeting.
Sherer Holter, AVP for Human Resources:
Ms. Holter reminded the group that the Combined Fund Drive is currently underway and that the Benefits Fair is next week.
III. Executive Reports
Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs
Dr. Soltz reported that the Washington State Supreme Court Justices visit is today and tomorrow. The first day, the justices will tour campus, have lunch with students, hold an open forum, and visit classes. The second day, they will hear three oral arguments in the SURC Ballroom and have lunch with selected faculty members. The One Book, One Campus project is underway. The academic code will be on line early next week. Lt. Governor, Brad Owens, attended the CWU-Wenatchee Grand Opening yesterday. He also joined Dr. McIntyre, Dr. Soltz, Ann Anderson, and Margaret Badgley for breakfast, a wine presentation by Amy Mumma at Icicle Creek Winery, and lunch prior to the grand opening. Dr. Linda Beath, AVP for Undergraduate Studies, has announced her retirement as of September 1, 2007. A search committee will be populated soon for a national recruit.
Vice President for Business & Financial Affairs
Mr. Corona reported that the CWU-Wenatchee Center Grand Opening was very well attended. He added that it was great to see staff from the other university centers there and to hear the student testimonials.
Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management
Dr. Tullos reported that Homecoming events are coming up. She reminded the group to RSVP for the Student Union and Recreation Center Grand Opening banquet as soon as possible. The College Board will be on campus in a couple of weeks to demo their new recruitment software. Pre-registration for winter quarter begins November 6. Orientations for new freshmen and transfer students enrolling winter quarter are also coming up.
Vice President for University Relations
Dr. Baker reported that there are several events taking place this week. A Cultivation event followed yesterday's CWU-Wenatchee Grand Opening and was well attended. The Douglas Honors College event is tonight at Gallery One, the Seattle Symphony is tomorrow night, and Battle in Seattle is Saturday.
Executive Assistant
Dr. Street reported that the resource directory is up. The Seattle Symphony is tomorrow night and Robert F. Kennedy, Jr. will be on campus November 2. The integrated planning forum is today at 1:00 in Grupe Center. Dr. McIntyre established a task force to review policy language and procedural steps related to hiring and affirmative action to ensure that the university's commitment to workforce diversity is clearly articulated in policy and reflected in procedure. The task force includes: Judy Miller, Dean Meghan Miller, Staci Sleigh-Layman, Leslie Webb, and Pam Zupan. They will report their findings to PAC early winter quarter 2007. The Native American Indian Advisory Council meets this Friday, October 20 and the External Diversity Council meets November 2.

I. At 10:30 a.m. - Sherer Holter regarding a Human Resources update
1. Ms. Holter and Ms. Zupan gave an update on the Schroll Lawsuit, a class action lawsuit from the early 1990's.
II. At or around 11:00 a.m. - Washington State Supreme Court Justices
Marian Lien introduced the Washington State Supreme Court Justices to Cabinet members. The justices will be on campus for the next two days for several events with students, faculty, and staff.

1. Performance indicators - Dr. Street
Dr. Street distributed a proposal for alumni tracking with regard to employment and graduate school. She explained the proposed agenda and recommended participants for this project. Cabinet members approved the proposal. Dr. Street will move forward and convene the group to meet as soon as possible.
V. Executive Reports
Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs:
Dr. Soltz reported that the CWU-Wenatchee Grand Opening event was very successful. The Washington State Supreme Court Justices are on campus today and tomorrow. The One Book, One Campus project is moving forward. Dr. Soltz added that Dr. Tullos has contributed to the project by offering to show one film a quarter to go along with the theme. The academic code will be available on the Provost's web page early next week. Approximately 25 people participated in the forums to discuss the code. Roger Fouts will chair the search committee for the AVP for Undergraduate Studies.
Vice President for Business & Financial Affairs:
Mr. Corona explained that the Governor's Office is asking for a representative from CWU to serve as a Wellness Coordinator. He and Dr. Tullos appointed Steve Waldeck to be CWU's representative. Mr. Corona added that he should have the finalists for Shirley Sadler's position next week.
Vice President for University Relations:
Dr. Baker distributed Cabinet packets for the Battle in Seattle. Mock-ups for the CWU license plates were reviewed and discussed. Dr. Baker will move forward with the selected design.
Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management:
Dr. Tullos reported that President McIntyre is attending the SAEM directors meeting tomorrow as part of her "getting to know you" visits. Campus Life is offering tours of the Student Union and Recreation Center to retired faculty and staff on November 3. Art DePalma, Associate Director of Health and Counseling Services is retiring. The COP SAEM Officers will meet in December.
Executive Assistant for Policy and Planning:
Dr. Street reported that she, Shelly Johnson, and Ann Anderson recently participated in a COP budget meeting. She added that there are several discussions going on in the state regarding budget issues. The Secretary of State's Office has asked for two students to represent CWU for College Civics Week. Dr. Tullos and Dr. Soltz will submit names to Dr. Street as soon as possible.
President:
Dr. McIntyre reported that due to the dinner prior to the Seattle Symphony tomorrow evening, vice president appointments will be cut to 45 minutes each. Ms. Dawson will contact the administrative assistants to arrange this on calendars. Dr. McIntyre asked for some additional publicity on the One Book, One Campus project. Dr. Baker will follow up on this.
