President's Cabinet

8:30 a.m. - President's Office

Present: Jerilyn McIntyre, Dave Soltz, Rich Corona, Charlotte Tullos, Paul Baker, Libby Street

Guests: Judy Miller

I. Judy Miller regarding Board of Trustees meeting preparation
Ms. Miller distributed the agenda for the Board of Trustees' meeting on June 9. The agenda was reviewed and discussed. Ms. Miller will make the suggested changes to the agenda and it will be posted to the Web later this week.

II. Discussion Item

1. Debriefing on planning
Dr. McIntyre explained that there will be a summit in the fall (October) to discuss planning. This will also be discussed at the summer Cabinet retreat in August. Dr. McIntyre asked Dr. Street to set up a meeting for the group prior to the summer Cabinet retreat to develop a two to three page document on planning. Dr. McIntyre will not attend this meeting.

2. Summer Retreat: August 28-29 or August 29-30?
Dr. Soltz will confirm that the ICAO meeting is still scheduled on August 24. If the meeting has been cancelled, then the summer Cabinet Retreat will be August 24-25 in Seattle.

3. Summer Schedules/Vacations
The vice presidents were reminded to send their summer vacation schedules to Ms. Dawson as soon as possible.

4. 4. Cabinet Photo
Dr. McIntyre reminded the group to contact Rich Villacrees with their preferred cabinet photo.

III. Executive Reports

Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs:

Dr. Soltz reported that implementation of the faculty collective bargaining agreement is going reasonably well. He added that he is in the process of putting together the Intellectual Properties and Merit committees. Dr. Soltz is attending an ICAO meeting tomorrow. Accountability measures should be finalized at this meeting.

Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs:

No report.

Vice President for University Relations:

Dr. Baker reminded the group that the John Moawad Jazz Scholarship Concert is Saturday, June 3 at Benaroya Hall in Seattle. Information regarding Douglas Honors College (DHC) scholarships was distributed for review and discussion.

Vice President for Student Affairs and Enrollment Management:

Dr. Tullos reported that Keith Champagne will chair the search committee for the AVP for Student Affairs position. Admissions numbers look good. A consultant will be on campus August 8-11, 2006 to review all programs in Student Affairs and Enrollment Management. Dr. Tullos met with Roger Fouts and Don Woodcock recently to discuss Title III issues.

Executive Assistant for Policy and Planning:

Dr. Street reported that Shelly Johnson is submitting the 2007-09 budget today. There will be a meeting later today to discuss art selection and museum curator issues.

President:

Dr. McIntyre reported that the American Association of State Colleges and Universities (AASCU) is requesting that CWU respond to the Smart Grant program. The request will be forwarded to Dr. Tullos, Dr. Street, and Agnes Canedo so that a response can be prepared. Dr. McIntyre reminded the vice presidents to schedule their executive intern interviews. Decisions will be made before the end of finals week.

Dr. Tullos: CEL "Evening of Recognition" dinner, Senior Student Affairs Officers conference, United Way board meeting, Student Commencement Speaker lunch, Court Advocates for Children board meeting

Dr. Baker: No report

Dr. Street: CEL "Evening of Recognition" dinner, presented three papers at a conference in Atlanta
