MinutesPresident's CabinetWednesday, June 7, 2006 Present: Jerilyn McIntyre, Dave Soltz, Rich Corona, Charlotte Tullos, Paul Baker, Libby Street Guests: Sherer Holter, Shelly Johnson, Judy Miller I. Board of Trustees meeting discussion II. At 10:45 a.m. - Sherer Holter, Shelly Johnson, and Judy Miller regarding Exempt Employee Association recommendations Ms. Holter explained the exempt code proposed revisions and the cost analysis for each item. Mr. Holter will contact the other state universities and see how they handle the accountability issues with same or opposite sex domestic partner leave usage requests. A response will be prepared and sent to the Chair of the Exempt Employee Association (EEA) regarding the decision of the group. III. Action Items 1. Approval of Cabinet minutes from 5/3/06, 5/10/06, & 5/17/06 Motion to approve the Cabinet minutes from 5/3/06, 5/10/06, and 5/17/06 as presented by Dr. Baker. Seconded by Dr. Soltz. No further discussion. Motion carried. IV. Discussion Items 1. Executive Interns The executive intern interviews were discussed. Dr. McIntyre asked the vice presidents to send their top two to three choices to Dr. Street as soon as possible. 2. Samuelson Union Building The group discussed the future use of the Samuelson Union Building. Mr. Corona will follow up on several cost issues and report back to the group soon. V. Executive Reports Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs: Dr. Soltz reminded the group of the Phi Kappa Phi initiation ceremony on Friday at 4:00 p.m. in McConnell Auditorium. The travel policy was discussed at Academic Affairs Council yesterday and it will be brought to PAC soon. Vice President for University Relations: Dr. Baker reported that the Douglas Honors College (DHC) scholarship criteria has been given to the Provost's Office. Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management: Dr. Tullos reported that Lisa Garcia-Hanson attended the COP meeting last week on diversity. It was an interesting meeting. Vice President for Business & Financial Affairs: Mr. Corona asked for an update on the community garden proposal. Dr. Tullos will follow up with Jeff Rosenberry on the proposal. The group did not approve the suggested location, but did provide some alternatives. The Minor Projects list is still being finalized. It will come back to this group in a couple of weeks. Executive Assistant for Policy & Planning: Dr. Street reported that she and Dr. Soltz will be discussing strategic planning at the Board of Trustees meeting on Friday. The Washington Learns report should be completed soon. Cabinet members will receive a copy when it is available. Dr. Street was asked to serve on the Ellensburg School District Bond Committee. Administrative Operations Coordinator: The two-day Summer Cabinet Retreat will be held August 24-25. The meeting will be in Seattle to coincide with the Alumni Mariners' event. Ms. Dawson will work on organizing the meeting and get details to Cabinet members soon. President: Dr. McIntyre asked for an update on commencement. The Eastside and Westside Commencement Ceremony details were reviewed and discussed. VI. Old Business No old business. VII.
