President's Cabinet

Wednesday, September 7, 2005
8:30 a.m. - President's Office

Present: Jerilyn McIntyre, Rich Corona, Paul Baker, Charlotte Tullos, Libby Street

Guests: Tracy Terrell, Josh Baulch, Cherie Wilson, Shelly Johnson

I. At 8:30 a.m. - Tracy Terrell, Josh Baulch, and Cherie Wilson re: PA system for commencement

Mr. Baulch began by explaining what happened with the sound system at the on campus commencement exercises in June. Although there was better audio coverage throughout the stadium, the earplugs caused problems for the platform party. Several solutions were discussed. More research will be done on the issue and a report will come back to Cabinet during fall quarter.

Ms. Terrell distributed a proposal from the commencement committee suggesting that we split commencement exercises into two ceremonies on the same day for 2006. The proposal was reviewed and discussed. Several other options were suggested as well. Dr. McIntyre asked Ms. Terrell to work with the commencement committee on additional options and come back to Cabinet with these options and their budget implications. A decision must be made by December to accommodate any necessary changes for the 2006 ceremony.

II. At 9:00 a.m. - Shelly Johnson re: Supplemental Budget Request

Ms. Johnson reported that the supplemental budget requests are due to OFM by October 17. The group agreed that utilities, disability support services, tuition waivers, and the 1.6 salary increase for employees will be the focus in our request. Ms. Johnson will send the templates to Cabinet members so the information for this request can be updated.
