I. At 8:30 a.m. (for 20 minutes) - Bill Vertrees & Bill Yarwood re: SUB-REC update
Mr. Vertrees reported that construction on the Student Union & Recreation Center is going very well. The Recreation Center is on schedule to open January 3, 2006. The Student Union will open in April. Employees for the Rec Center are being hired now and will be on board by December for training. Mr. Yarwood added that they are using the Operational Guidelines for Shared Higher Ed Buildings as a resource for drafting the Student Union & Recreation Center shared governance guidelines. Dr. McIntyre suggested that at the December 2 Board of Trustees meeting it would be good to have the board members tour the new building. Ms. Miller will work with John Drinkwater to arrange this.
II. At 9:00 a.m. (for 15 minutes) - Steve Rittereiser re: Central Transit and the Student Patrol & Courtesy Assistance Team
Chief Rittereiser explained that the new student transportation system, Central Transit, kicks off on Monday, October 3. There are 11 convenient stop locations in and around campus as well as in the downtown area. All stops are clearly marked with signs specifically displaying Central Transit. The hours of operation will be Monday - Thursday from 2:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m., Friday-Saturday from 2:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m., and Sunday 2:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. This program is for CWU students only and will require the student connection card for use of the service.
Chief Rittereiser also announced another program that will be kicking off on October 3. The Courtesy Assistance Team or CAT team will be a student patrol team. This group will be a very proactive group. In addition to being an eyes and ears team, they will also provide a walking companion service and will routinely walk through open buildings at night. They will be on duty from 6:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. Sunday through Thursday and 2:00 p.m. - 12:00 a.m. on weekends. CAT employees will have radio access and will always wear polo shirts and jackets with the wildcat logo so they can be identified.

IV. Executive Reports

Dr. Soltz reported that his office is currently receiving feedback from the breakout sessions at Fall Faculty Day and hope to have that information on the website soon. It is October 25 from 10:00-12:00 and will be cast to CWU-Des Moines since a number of faculty and staff will be there that day for the grand opening.
Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management:
Dr. Tullos reported that the event at Fred Meyer the night before classes starting was a huge success. Approximately 2500 students attended this after-hours event.
