I. Discussion Items
1. Board of Trustees debriefing
Dr. McIntyre reported that the trustees thought the board committee meetings last Friday went very well. They were also very impressed with the Sue Lombard remodel. Mr. Corona added that Tony Aronica gave an outstanding report at the regular meeting on Friday.
2. Battle in Seattle debriefing
Dr. McIntyre reported that several individuals will meet October 18 to discuss Battle in Seattle issues.
II. Executive Reports
Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs:
Dr. Beath reported for Dr. Soltz. A copy of the Adjunct Handbook was distributed. Dr. Beath and the associate deans developed this handbook last year to assist with adjunct orientation. It has proven to be very helpful. The program review schedule for the year was distributed. Departments being reviewed this year are Art, Music, Flight Technology, Sociology, Mathematics, and Science Education. The CWU Accountability Indicators were also distributed and discussed.
Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management:
Dr. Tullos reported that she met with the accrediting team yesterday that is here reviewing the medical/counseling departments at the Student Health & Counseling Center. Enrollment numbers are still being finalized. Student Affairs and Enrollment Management staff are gearing up for Homecoming. Several events and activities are planned every night next week. Invitations to the Sue Lombard Grand Reopening have been mailed. The event takes place on Saturday, October 22, at 10:00 a.m. There will be a short program in the Lombard Dining Room followed by a ribbon cutting, a reception, and guided tours in Sue Lombard Hall.
Vice President for University Relations:
Dr. Baker reported that the Court Advocates for Children Appreciation Dinner is December 11 at the Dakota Cafe. Cabinet members were invited to contact Dr. Baker if they would like to attend. The Campaign Planning Guide: Transforming Lives was distributed. Dr. Baker explained that items will be added to this planning guide regularly so that everyone always has the most up-to-date information. The Battle in Seattle debriefing meeting is October 18. The Foundation Investment and Finance committee met on Monday. A group will be meeting Thursday to discuss Presidential Speaker Series details. The Alumni Awards Banquet is Friday, October 21 at 6:00 p.m. in the Samuelson Union Building Chavez Room. The price per person is $18. Approximately 125 tickets have been sold to date.
Vice President for Business & Financial Affairs:
Mr. Corona reported that as of Monday, October 10, Central Transit transported over 200 students. The Courtesy Assistance Team (CAT) is up and running. Bids will be going out soon to both Coca Cola and Pepsi for the on-campus soft drink contract. Facilities Management is currently working on utility estimates for this year. Steve Rittereiser is updating the Emergency Preparedness Plan and will present it to Cabinet soon. Mr. Corona has prepared an article describing the changes in Dining Services for this year. This article will be in next week's Observer. The search for the AVP for Human Resources is moving along. The candidate pool is extremely strong.
President:
Dr. McIntyre reported that the meeting with Senator Murray on Monday went very well. Senator Murray was very complimentary of CWU. Terry Teale emailed an update of the Katrina Relief Efforts that are going on at each of the public universities. CWU efforts were not included. Dr. Tullos will follow up on this. Beginning the week of November 2, Dr. McIntyre would like to have Cabinet members start reporting on the meetings and community events that they attend each week.
