President's Cabinet

8:30 a.m. - President's Office

Present: Jerilyn McIntyre, Dave Soltz, Rich Corona, Paul Baker, Charlotte Tullos, Libby Street

Guest: Tracy Terrell

I. At 8:30 - Tracy Terrell regarding the commencement emergency back-up plan

Ms. Terrell explained the options for the emergency commencement plan. This emergency plan will be posted on the REGI homepage. There are 101 faculty participating in commencement this year. The faculty marshal for the Ellensburg commencement is Sheldon Johnson and for the Westside commencement it is Lynn Richmond. The commencement scripts will be out to the platform party next week.

II. Action Item

1. Approval of Cabinet minutes from 5/11/05
Motion to approve the minutes from 5/11/05 as presented by Mr. Corona. Seconded by Dr. Tullos. No further discussion. Motion carried.

III. Discussion Items

1. University Archives - Dr. Street
Dr. Street explained that she has met with several individuals on campus recently regarding university archives issues. From these meetings, a number of recommendations have been developed and follow up meetings will take place to ensure implementation.

2. Mailing lists update - Dr. Street
Dr. Street reminded Cabinet members to send their mass mailing lists to her as soon as possible. This list should include dates/times of these mailings and who receives them. Also include lists of any advisory boards in your divisions.

3. BOT Retreat Agenda - Judy Miller
Ms. Miller described the outline for the Board of Trustees' retreat agenda. This year's two-day retreat will be July 25-26, 2005 at the President's Reception Center.

IV. Distribution Item

1. President's Advisory Council & Cabinet Meeting Schedule - Summer 2005
The PAC & Cabinet summer meeting schedule was distributed. This has also been emailed to the administrative assistants to schedule on calendars.

V. Executive Reports

Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs:
Dr. Soltz asked who was planning to attend the Governor's Education Summit on June 3. Dr. Street will follow up and see who the other universities are sending as their representatives. The last Faculty Senate meeting is today. Review of retention, tenure and promotion files is close to completion. Planning for faculty collective bargaining is underway. The negotiating teams plan to meet a couple of times in August.

Vice President for Business & Financial Affairs:
Mr. Corona reminded the group that the HR consultant will be on campus June 6.

Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management:
Dr. Tullos reported that Student Appreciation Day is tomorrow, May 26. There will be a BBQ from 4:30-6:30 p.m., live music from 5:30-7:30 p.m., and fireworks at 9:00 p.m. at the Nicholson Pavillion Intramural Field. Plans for Senior Celebration, June 4, are moving along.

Vice President for University Relations:
Dr. Baker reported that the Foundation Board meeting on May 20 went very well. The board voted to go forward with the recommended campaign. A campaign steering committee is now being formed. The feasibility study conclusions were distributed for the Cabinet to review. These conclusions will also be presented to the resource development committee of the Board of Trustees on June 10. Discovery Day with Suncadia staff was very successful.

Executive Assistant for Policy & Planning:
Dr. Street gave an update on the Synthesizing Committee nominations that have been received so far. If you have not already done so, please submit your nominations to her as soon as possible. The outline for the Planning Forum on May 31 was distributed and discussed.

President:
Dr. McIntyre reminded Cabinet members that their budget letters are due to her by June 6. The end of year celebration co-sponsored by Graduate Studies, Continuing Education, and the President's Office is June 1 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. in Grupe Center. Dr. McIntyre will be working on the recommendations for centers of excellence over the weekend.
