I. At 8:30: Chuck McIntyre re: Cost Study

Mr. McIntyre reported what he's done on the project so far, and the work that is remaining. He was asked to do three things when he began this study. The first thing he did was a cost benchmarking study with our 23 comprehensive peers. The second part of his task was the cost modeling and analysis project. The third piece of what he has been asked to do will be to look at trends and do some forecasting. In the next couple of months, he will be revising the cost modeling and analysis to include feedback from divisions. He plans to visit campus again in October 2005 and report on the third paper (trends & forecasting).

Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs:
Dr. Soltz reported that there is a faculty collective bargaining meeting tomorrow morning. The academic affairs council unanimously rejected the second version of the final exam policy that the Senate approved recently. Revisions to this policy will be made over the summer and a final policy will be in place by fall quarter. Vice President for Student Affairs & Enrollment Management:
Dr. Tullos reported that freshmen admissions for fall 2005 is officially closed. Confirmation deposits were due on May 1. All communications from Admissions to students have stated that confirmations received after May 1 would be accepted on a space-available basis, so Admissions has found it necessary to begin returning confirmation deposits for fall quarter to freshmen who have not yet confirmed. Admissions will continue to allow transfer students and those few freshmen who were just recently admitted to confirm. Jack Bishop reported on Athletics at the last ASCWU Board of Directors meeting and it went very well. Childcare Central will start back up Fall Quarter for children between the ages of three months and 24 months. Senior Celebration was a very successful event. At the recent Pacific Affiliate of College and University Residence Hall (PACURH) conference in Oregon, CWU was awarded with the School of the Year Award and the National Residence Hall Honorary Chapter of the Year Award.

Vice President for Business & Financial Affairs:
Mr. Corona distributed the proposed motor pool rate increases effective July 1, 2005. He added that 15 passenger vans will continue to be purchased by CWU. However, a new StabilTrak system will be installed in each van to improve on the stability of the vans under braking conditions and the last bench seat will be removed and used for cargo space. The Campus Site and Development Committee has been meeting regularly. They have formed a sub-committee to work on directional signage for the entire university, including the centers and signs on the highways/freeways.

Vice President for University Relations:
Dr. Baker reported that he attended the Ellensburg Chamber of Commerce Luncheon yesterday. The search is underway for the Director of Public Relations and Marketing. Arrangements for Mae Jemison's stay on campus have been finalized. Dr. Baker will give an update on the Foundation at the Board of Trustees Resource Development sub-committee meeting Friday morning.
