II. Executive Reports

Provost/Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs: Dr. Soltz asked who would be attending the Chamber Legislative Day on November 16. Dr. McIntyre will be out of town on this day, so it was decided that Dr. Street would attend the luncheon and Dr. Soltz and Mr. Corona will attend the afternoon CWU session. Ms. Dawson will email Ms. Anderson with this update. Dr. Soltz reported that he is really enjoying the Executive Interns. His intern, Kristine Geckle, is an actual trained mediator, so the Provost's Office has been using her to research collective bargaining issues. Dr. Soltz also distributed a copy of the guest column by Sid Morrison that appeared in the Daily Record on October 26 for the Cabinet to review if they had not already seen it.

Vice President for SAEM:
Mr. Reilly distributed the Fall 2004 Enrollment Highlights. One major highlight was that CWU enrolled 1388 freshmen this fall, the largest freshmen class in our history. He also reported that the Fall Open House was last Saturday and 700 students and parents attended. The event was very successful. There was great faculty participation and the feedback has been very positive. Mr. Reilly added that things look good for fall quarter 2005.

Vice President for Business & Financial Affairs:
Mr. Corona distributed the travel expense reports for the first quarter. Business and Financial Affairs had their division retreat on Tuesday. The division discussed their accomplishments, goals for the coming year, and performance indicators. Mr. Corona met with the City of Ellensburg, Ellensburg School District, and Headstart regarding plans for future partnerships. He also reported that he and Dr. Tullos decided to transfer the Safe Ride Program to Public Safety and Police Services effective January 1, 2005. Mr. Corona and Dr. Street will work on the determination of Essential Employees draft and the Emergency Closure policy and bring it to the Cabinet retreat on November 10. Mr. Corona reminded the group that Dining Services is serving a special Halloween dinner tonight that begins at 4:30 p.m.

Vice President for University Relations:
Dr. Baker reported that he attended the Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) meeting last night. ODK is the National Leadership Honor Society. He was very impressed with the group. He also reported that National Philanthropy Day is November 16, 2004 and we will be honoring Sally Behnke and David Corning. Liahna Armstrong, Roy Savoian, and Julie Cloninger will be attending this event along with Dr. McIntyre and W. David Smith. The Development Priorities Committee will meet next week. Ms. Cloninger is working on having a draft of the university Case statement prior to the meeting. Dr. Baker added that his division is working on the reporting forms for campaign.

Executive Assistant:
Dr. Street reported that a group of people met to discuss space planning. It was decided that this group should meet with Cabinet for one hour prior to the Christmas holiday break. Ms. Dawson will schedule this group to attend an upcoming Cabinet meeting. Dr. Street added that she met with Ona Youmans, Pam Zupan, and Judy Miller to discuss making HR 2005 articulate with our policies manual. Ms. Zupan is working on a draft and will have something back to Cabinet soon.

President:
Dr. McIntyre reported that Dr. David Abshire's lecture was excellent. She also reported that her annual address to classified staff is November 4, 2004. There are two sessions, one at 10:30 a.m. in Grupe Center and the second session is at 2:30 p.m. in Shaw Smyser, room 115.
