Athletic Compliance Committee. Nancy Howard has some concerns about the representation on this committee. She will be added as an ex officio member. 3. Resource 25. Several departments have planned to buy other scheduling software. They need to be sure that this software is compatible with Resource 25. The meeting to discuss priority scheduling went very well. 4. Performance Evaluation Letters Any suggestions for changes to the letter will be sent to Ms. Hodges. 5. Initiative Measure 884 Concerning Dedicating Funds Designated for Educational Purposes. This is part of the League of Education Voters initiative. The Council of Presidents asked us to review the wording of this document and get back to Terry Teale with any suggested changes. The student leaders at the universities are being recruited to gather signatures in support of this initiative. 6. Meeting with the Swimming and Wrestling Teams Paul Baker, Mike Reilly, and Jack Bishop met with each of the teams about the sports being cut. Overall, the meetings went well, despite it being an emotional time for the student athletes and coaches. Mr. Reilly is doing all he can to facilitate the transfer process for those students who are interested in wrestling or swimming at another university. Dr. Baker has been responding to incoming emails and phone calls and has been interviewed by The Observer. III. Executive Reports Dr. Dave Soltz – Provost/SVPAADr. Soltz met with the deans this week to discuss program review. Input from this year’s participating departments is in and may be used to refine the process somewhat for next year. However, in order to keep the process consistent not a lot will be changed. Twelve departments have been designated for next year’s review. Overall, the process is beginning to work more smoothly and the departmental buy-in is high. Remainder of the deans’ meeting focused on budget planning for 2005-07. Dr. Beath attended the most recent ICAO meeting. One major issue was the joint access oversight group working on transfer issues, which appears to be working well. ICAO settled on three major goals 1) shift to major-ready transfer, which ties in with a bill that passed regarding course equivalency; 2) access to an integrated advisory system, looking at course equivalencies and coming up with a common data base that any student may access; 3) reciprocity in general education outside the program degrees. A memo from Mark Lundgren to the Salary Advisory Board, the deans and Gary Benson, is going out this morning. Dr. Sulton, HECB Executive Director, is willing to write a letter of support. Dr. Soltz will send a copy to Karen Morse at WWU, per Dr. McIntyre’s request. Dr. Paul Baker – VPURThe commencement speaker is still not booked. A new CWU ad was placed in the current Washington CEO and the planned giving special issue of the Puget Sound Business Journal. The 5/8 Mariners vs. Yankees game plans are coming together. A banquet honoring Ruth Harrington is scheduled for Tuesday 5/4, 6-8 p.m. in the SUB Ballroom. Mr. Rich Corona – VPBFAThere was a small fire in the AlMonty residence hall. It was extinguished immediately, but there was some smoke that affected one person. The hall staff and fire department responded very quickly. The SEPA meeting on Tuesday 3/30 was very uneventful. There were no questions at the meeting, although there was some discussion afterwards. No written responses have been received to date, but we may get something from the City and County within the next couple weeks. Budget Advisory Committee forum was yesterday, 4/1. There were a few questions from the Faculty Senate Chair Daniel CannCasciato regarding faculty concerns on salary funding. All the information from the meeting is on the Budget Office website, both the numbers and the narrative. The staff will come back with more information at the next BAC meeting. The state wide single list for capital projects was also discussed so that people would understand the process. Ann Anderson had some helpful comments on this process. Class enrollment data is currently being converting into PeopleSoft. There are 1.9M records that need to be converted. 900K have been entered thus far with only 3 identified errors. The Joint Labor Relations Committee discussed parking rate changes last week. The union suggested that more staff-only parking should be created. Ellensburg city engineers have suggested several options to control the traffic at the University Way and Anderson Street crosswalk. CWU grounds staff will be involved in the conversation. The city will bear the cost of making the improvements. Mr. Mike Reilly – for VPSAEMMr. Reilly reviewed the mini-stats for fall 2004. Applications and admissions numbers continue to look strong. Financial Aid award letters for freshmen are on track and will be sent out Monday, brochures and DVD/Videos are being mailed out soon. Transfer applications are up 50% from last year. The pool for fall is looking very strong. Nearly 75% of applications have been submitted on the web, automatically uploading into PeopleSoft. Spring 2004 mini-stats were also reviewed. The annualized FTE for next year is anticipated to be close to 9000. The academic recovery program was held yesterday. Eighty students are on probation, and another 80 suspended. Not many have appealed their suspension yet. The provost spoke to the group who are on probation. The statewide admissions directors will be meeting with HECB and COP staff regarding feedback on changing admissions standards for 2008. Their feedback will be reviewed and then the adjusted proposal will be forwarded to the provosts. Dr. Libby Street – Executive AssistantThe President’s Office is sending out invitation letters for the CWU-Pierce County grand opening. Planning for the grand opening for CWU-Moses Lake will begin soon. The Hispanic Leadership meeting is scheduled for 4/28. Dr. Jerilyn McIntyre – PresidentDr. McIntyre attended a COP meeting on Tuesday 3/30. Among the subjects discussed were enrollment management and developing a common agenda between the universities and community/technical colleges for next legislative session. The COP meeting with Dr. Sulton was very good. The group discussed communication issues between the HECB and the baccalaureates. The current draft of the HECB strategic plan was also discussed. The president shared the Governor’s memo on vetoed items. Several items that he vetoed were actually very positive for CWU. Dr. Street was asked to work on the memo to campus regarding the budget and a news release as well. Dr. McIntyre had meetings with three Congressmen yesterday.
