At around 11:00 PM on Saturday, July 20, CWU police found a 23-year-old Ellensburg man lying a parking lot on the 1300 block of North D Street.. The man had been stabbed and was transferred to Kittitas Valley Hospital, where he died early Sunday morning. Cause of death will be determined by an autopsy later this week. The individual was not a CWU employee or student.
CWU issued an alert about the incident late Saturday/early Sunday in accordance with federal Clery law that requires such notification.
Sunday CWU, Ellensburg Police, State Patrol, and Kittitas County Sheriff finished processing the crime scene and began conducting interviews with associates of the victim. Those interviews and other investigation will continue today.
