The Bachelor of Science degree in Social Services is designed for students interested in working in the human services delivery system. This program provides the educational background and training necessary for a wide array of jobs at the national, state, and local levels. Social Services graduates work alongside social workers, counselors, law enforcement officers, doctors, therapists, and other specialists who help individuals tackle major challenges in their lives. Many social services programs provide intervention for citizens with substance abuse problems or victims of crime or violence.

Students are required to have a strong grounding in sociology as well as the applied field of social services. The coursework introduces students to critical issues in the field and offers students the opportunity to work within agencies in the community.

The major requirements are such that students are encouraged to organize their program of study to include a minor in an area of interest or specialization outside of sociology. Some areas that fit well with this major include psychology ethnic studies, family studies, gerontology women's studies, law and justice and community health.

1. Meet CWU's general education requirements through a community college direct transfer agreement (DTA), bachelor's degree, or equivalent from any state accredited college or university.
2. Apply for admission to Central Washington University online at www.cwu.edu/admissions. Submit official electronic or hard copy transcripts from any colleges or universities you have attended to Admissions in Ellensburg and provide the Des Moines Center with a student copy for advising purposes.
