Pierce County

BAEd Elementary Education / Middle Level Math

Central Washington University's teacher certification program at CWU-Pierce County is designed to meet the needs of time- and place-bound students and the state's need for highly qualified math teachers. Graduates of this program will earn a baccalaureate degree with teacher certification in Elementary Education and Middle-level Math.

This is a seven-quarter, full-time program at CWU-Pierce County. A cohort of students will begin classes each fall quarter and run continuously including summer quarter. Fall through spring quarter classes are held in the late afternoon and evening; summer schedules may vary with daytime math classes. Some math classes will be held at the CWU-Des Moines campus.

Central Washington University's teacher preparation program is accredited regionally and nationally. Our constructivist teaching philosophy curriculum, and facilities support rich education experience with small class sizes, hands-on experience, regular interaction with expert faculty, and opportunities for research. Through cooperative partnerships with local school districts, students have the opportunity to develop practical teaching skills in real classrooms. Graduates of this program will become teachers who are leaders in education reform efforts.
