Dr. Gary Bartlett, Assistant Professor, will give a public talk titled "Consciousness as a Brain Process" on Thursday, November 15th from 7:00 PM to 8:50 PM in the Language and Literature Building Room 221.
Statement from Dr. Bartlett:
In 1956 U.T. Place proposed that consciousness is a brain process. His controversial claim was that conscious experiences are identical with brain processes. But he made another claim which he did not emphasize, and which philosophers have largely forgotten: that conscious experiences are brain processes. I argue that this latter claim deserves to be rehabilitated.
