The CWU Physical Education and School Health (PESH) program is a two-year dynamic and innovative teacher-education program designed to develop competent physical education and health professionals for K-12 school settings. The program aligns with state and national standards of quality and is tailored to meet student needs and success.

Key Components of the PESH Program

1. Applied Learning

Our teacher candidates engage in school-based and practical settings that develop real-world knowledge and skills at both the elementary and secondary levels.

2. Non-Traditional Curriculum

Our teacher candidates learn various instructional strategies and models by participating in brain-based education, stress management, interdisciplinary learning, nutrition education, fitness education, cooperative learning, and adventure education.

3.  Technology Emphasis

Our teacher candidates learn to use the latest technological tools in the field, including heart rate monitors, accelerometers, tri-fit, movement analysis software, and web-based media.

4.  Professional Opportunities

Our teacher candidates attend and participate in state, regional, and national events and conferences.
