Frequently Asked Questions

1. Do you have to register for Wildcat Day?

Wildcat Day is a non-registered event, so please just show up. Check in starts at 8AM at the Student Union and Recreation Center located on E 11th Ave. Your parents and guests are welcome to join. If by chance you have any future Wildcats in the family considering CWU we have an Admission session for them as well.

2. I am not available during the offered times of Discover Orientation. What should I do?

Discover Orientation is required for all incoming First Year and Running Start students. We encourage you to work to make one of the five two-day orientation sessions that are offered. If by chance you cannot attend, please contact us at discover@cwu.edu stating the reason you are unable to attend. If you do not attend, you will not be able to register for the upcoming quarter during this time.

3. I am a newly admitted First Year student, is Discover Orientation mandatory?

Yes, all incoming and first year and running start students are required to attend Discover Orientation.

4. Should my parents or guests attend Discover Orientation?

All parents and guests are welcome There is a separate track of sessions at Discover Orientation that are dedicated to parents and guests of our incoming students. We hope that you are able to bring a family member to help support your success transitioning to CWU. Parents and guests will also have the opportunity to sign up for the parent and family program and receive important materials and information.

5. I am a Transfer Student, is Discover Orientation mandatory?

Attendance at Discover Orientation is required for most majors/departments. If you are unable to attend, please check with your major area of interest for alternate advising and registration assistance.

6. Do I register for classes during Discover Orientation?

Yes, you will register during Discover Orientation for your classes.


7. I'm staying on campus the night before my schedule Discover Orientation session. What time is check in for my room?

Please check in between 3pm and 10pm the day before your scheduled session. If you are a First Year/Running Start student, you will check in at the Beck Hall Lounge as indicated on your parking pass. If you are a Transfer student, you will check in at Wendell Hill Hall A as indicated on your parking pass.
