OPR is offering students ways to bring out their adventurous spirit and help build a healthier lifestyle with weekly opportunities to hike, climb and challenge heights throughout the fall months.
Hike into the hills of Ellensburg with fellow CWU students and experience a beautiful sunset view with the Weekly Sunset Hikes every Thursday, starting Sept. 24. Participants will depart from OPR at 4 p.m. and return at 7 p.m. The cost is $5 per trip for CWU and Recreation Center members and $10 for non-members. Partakers need to wear good hiking shoes and bring snack and water. Registration is available at OPR and pre-registration is required.
The Weekly Challenge offers students the opportunity to participate in hair-raising activities on the CWU Challenge Course every Wednesday, starting Sept. 30, at 5 p.m. The cost is $5 per session for CWU students and Recreation Center members. Participants need to wear closed toed shoes and clothing that they can be active in. No experience needed as this course offers both low and high-rope elements for all comfort levels.
Lastly, the weekly Fireside Chats starting Sept. 30 fireside chat is returning to the OPR patio but with a little fall Frisbee fun. Join OPR staff members and other cool people in a Frisbee Showdown. Feel free to bring marshmallows to roast and stuff your face with s'mores. Or come and enjoy a warm fire. This is a great opportunity to learn about new events at OPR, meet new friends, or to simply unwind.
Don’t miss out on the chance to experience a great workout and a beautiful view every week this quarter.
