Master of Education Higher Education
The Master of Education, Higher Education program is designed for candidates with an interest in working in administrative positions in institutions of higher education, civic organizations, non-profit organizations, national government organizations, or the social sector. Program coursework provides students with a strong grounding in leadership / management / organizational development with particular attention to the higher education context.

Master of Education Literacy
The Master of Education Literacy (formerly known as MEd. Reading Specialist) program is designed to allow candidates to pursue graduate-level study in the various levels of literacy through an online format. The successful candidate will be able to work as a Reading Specialist or Literacy Coach.

Master of Education Instructional Leadership
The Department of Advanced Programs prepares educational leaders to assume management and instructional responsibilities needed to facilitate learning in a diverse world. Our school administration program provides candidates with a broad background in theory and practice, including: A series of prerequisite courses in theory and knowledge; a field-based administrator internship experience; and, supplemental educational opportunities. This combination of professional preparation and experience has been designed to provide Principal and Program Administrator candidates the opportunity to demonstrate, in both their CWU course work and internship experience, the skills and knowledge inherent in WAC 181-79A-211(2).

Master of Education School Administration
CWU has been approved by the HECB (Higher Education Coordinating Board) to offer, through the Department of Advanced Programs, the School Administration Masters and Residency Certificate Programs in an entirely web-based format. This online program will offer the same quality educators and rigorous coursework Central is known for, now in a convenient online delivery system.

Master of Science in Health & Physical Education: Athletic Administration Specialization
The master of science specialization in Athletic Administration is focused on the types of knowledge and skills designed to enhance one's effectiveness as a coach or as a K-12 athletic administrator. It is not a sport marketing or sport management program. Students applying for this program are expected to have an undergraduate degree in health and physical education or extensive related practical experience. Because the requirements to become K-12 athletic directors vary between school districts, students intent on pursuing careers in athletic administration should check into local school district athletic administration requirements.

The master of science in Health and Physical Education is focused on the types of knowledge and skills designed to enhance one's effectiveness as a teacher of health and physical education. Students applying for this program are expected to have teaching certification and either an undergraduate degree in health and physical education or extensive related practical experience. The degree does NOT prepare a student for teaching certification.
