ELLENSBURG, Wash. — Central Washington University’s computer network will be taken off line on Sunday, August 26, from 4:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. in order to perform a planned network upgrade. This will impact the entire campus Local Area Network (basically all connectivity on campus to and from the CWU Data Center) and Internet access (incoming and outgoing), including VPN Services.
Connectivity from across campus to all systems located in the Data Center will be disrupted. With very few exceptions, all network systems and services will be inaccessible, including the CWU website, Intranet, and all networked services, including e-mail, administrative systems, Blackboard LMS, and file servers; and auxiliary systems, such as dining, housing, and the Wildcat Shop.
For those planning to work on-campus during the outage, desktop computers will be operational. However, you will need to select "Workstation Only" when logging on.
This is the final major step in the modernization and upgrade of the university’s backbone network from one-gigabyte to ten-gigabyte service, along with replacement of older equipment.
