Since Academic Year 2010-11

  • Laura Adams – won a regional professional audition as Principal Trombonist of the Leavenworth Summer Theater following a competitive taped audition process
    (Summer 2012).  
  • Dan Baker – won employment as a music counselor at Marrowstone Music Festival in Bellingham, WA following a regional application/interview process
    (Summer 2012).  
  • Brian Bernethy – won the bass trombone position with the Skagit Symphony.  He later won the 2nd trombone position with the Whatcom Symphony (June 2011).  Both are regional semi-professional orchestras located in the northwest region of Seattle. 
  • Matthew Clegg – won national level summer employment as a music counselor at Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp through a national audition/application/interview process
    (Summer 2011). 
  • Steven Eaton – won a trombone section position with the Seattle Wind Symphony, following a taped audition screening process.  Over 150 people from across the entire state of Washington applied
    (July 2011). 
  • Kelsey Gertje – won a live regional professional audition for a position in the trombone section of the Washington State (133rd) Army National Guard Band in Camp Murray – near Lakewood, WA 
    (Summer 2012).  
  • Matthew Grey – won the Silver Medal of the Brass Division of Musicfest Northwest Solo Competition.  Applicants ranged in age from 16-25, and came from the entire Pacific Northwest Region.  Matt won a small cash prize and garnered an interview on Northwest Public Radio
    (May 2012).
  • Amy Johnson – became Principal Trombone of Leavenworth Summer Theater (to replace Laura Adams departure following family emergency), and also served as a substitute Principal Trombonist of the Olympia Symphony Orchestra, a professional regional orchestra in the greater Seattle area
    (Summer 2012).  
  • Christopher Wall – won the Gold Medal of the Brass Division of the MusicFest Northwest Solo Competition.  Applicants ranged in age from 16-25, and came from the entire Pacific Northwest Region.  Chris won $500, and performed the Lars-Erik Larsson Concertino with the Spokane symphony Orchestra
    (May 2011). 
  • CWU Trombone Choir – performed at the Seattle Trombone Workshop following an invitation (May 2011).
