|Preparatory Strings at Central|
The Preparatory Strings Program consists of seven string ensembles and one full symphony orchestra made up of students from 6 years old through college. The majority of students start out in either Early Beginners or Beginning Strings and then progress up to the Kittitas Valley Youth Orchestra. However, students may join the beginning groups or audition for the intermediate and advanced groups during any quarter. This program provides a great opportunity for Ellensburg youth to not only improve their technical and musical skills, but to meet other youth involved with music.
With the exception of Early Beginners, the ensembles meet for 2 hours a week and are taught by Central Washington University students. One of the advantages of this program is the extremely high CWU ratio to Prep students, with an average of one teacher to every four Prep students. This means that there is a great amount of one-on-one instruction and detailed attention to each student, unlike other programs that have fewer teachers to help the students. This program is beneficial to both Central students and youth in the community. Feel free to explore this web site to learn more about this program. If you have any questions, please contact the Program Director at email@example.com. Thanks for your interest!
CWU students may now join the Kittitas Valley Youth Orchestra! Contact the Program Director or KVYO Director for more information.
