REGISTRATION INFORMATION

  • Dates: August 12-17, 2013
  • Time: 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m.
  • Place: CWU Music Building
  • Meals: Please send a sack lunch each day


Registration Fee:

  • Full-day Camp: Early Bird $130,
    Regular $175
  • Partial-day Camp: Early Bird $75,
    Regular $100

Please fill out the registration and release forms above and mail them along with payment to:

You may drop it off and pay in person instead in Barge Hall, room 204, or you can also call 509-963-1504 to pay by credit or debit card.

Registration Deadlines:

  • June 7th: Early Bird registration due
  • June 28th: Registration due
  • After June 28th: $25 late fee for registrations postmarked after June 28.


Final Concert:
The hard work of the Prep Summer Strings musicians will be showcased on Saturday, August 17th at 11:30 a.m. in the CWU Music Building Concert Hall. The concert will be free of charge.

REGISTRATIONS ACCEPTED ON A
SPACE-AVAILABLE BASIS.

FULL-DAY CAMP

Beginning Strings
Ages 8 and up. Students will learn the basics of violin, viola, cello, or bass. This class will be taught by Nancy Chott.

Silver Strings
For string students with one or two years of experience. This orchestra will be conducted by Kara Hunnicutt.

Gold Strings
For students with three or more years of experience. This orchestra will be conducted by Bret Smith, PhD.

SMALL GROUP OPPORTUNITIES

Chamber Music
All full-day students will participate in small chamber ensembles of three to eight musicians. Their rehearsals will be led by a faculty coach. The students will perform in a special concert during the Friday afternoon chamber music time.

INSTRUMENT RENTAL

  • Summer Strings Camp Fee (1-week): $10
  • Summer Quarter Fee (full quarter): $40


PARTIAL-DAY CAMP

Young Musicians
Ages 5-7. Students will participate in music activities including rhythm, singing, movement, and violin.
Time: 9:00 a.m.-noon

Adult Strings
Parents and community members, have you ever wanted to learn a string instrument? Now is the time!
Time: 2:00 - 3:00 p.m.
Class taught by Monica Freshley.

SPECIAL EVENTS

Faculty Recital
Wednesday, August 14, at 2:30 p.m. Students will have a chance to see their teachers perform various pieces in the Recital Hall. Family and friends are welcome to attend.

Student Chamber Recital
Friday, August 16, at 1:00 p.m. Students will present the work they have done in their chamber music groups. Family and friends are welcome to come listen in the Recital Hall.
