![]() With a minimum of rehearsal time, the ensemble is able to provide quality entertainment while modeling appropriate music education and teaching techniques through active student leadership. Although the majority of students are music majors, students from other academic majors are welcome, and encouraged, to participate in the band or as a member of the Dancecats, or Colorguard Formed in the fall of 2010, Crimsons Guard & Dance is the premiere movement performance ensemble of Central Washington University. Blending various forms of dance with rifle, sabre, and flag, Crimsons performs with the Wildcat Marching Band in the fall and also encompasses two winter quarter performance ensembles: Crimsons Winterguard and Crimsons Pride. While there is no official audition requirement for marching band, the Drumline, Colorguard, and Dancecats have separate auditions for participation. The Marching Band's weekly five-hour rehearsal schedule alternates with Wind Ensemble and Symphonic Band rehearsals. Crimsons Colorguard Auditions Crimsons Guard & Dance will be hosting auditions for the fall Colorguard, and pre-auditions for the winter ensembles on September 18th from 7:00-9:00 p.m. in Hertz 100. This audition is MOVEMENT ONLY, so please wear clothing appropriate for a dance audition (i.e. black, form-fitting attire). Dance shoes (ballet, jazz) are optional. The audition is 45 minutes long, and will consist of movement basics, and two short dance sequences. Anyone, regardless of experience, is encouraged to attend.
