Jazz Studies Certificate

The jazz studies certificate provides a secondary focus to the existing music degrees with emphasis in jazz performance, improvisation, composition and arranging, and history/pedagogy.


Students in the certificate program are either instrumentalists (drum set, bass, vibes, piano, guitar, saxophone, trombone, and trumpet) or vocalists and participate in both large and small jazz ensembles.




Scholarly & Musical Admission Requirements

Must be accepted into the university
Must audition into the music program
Must satisfy the music theory prerequisite requirements
