The CWU Fall Choral Classic Invitational Festival will take place on Thursday and Friday November13 &14, 2014 in the wonderful acoustical environment of CWU's Concert Hall. Each of the 2 days is identical, with 12 choirs per day.
The Fall Choral Classic is a non-competitive festival designed to enhance open and honest exchange between the clinicians, the conductor and the students. Participation by school groups is by invitation only. All invited choirs are expected to arrive and be seated by 8:15 am and remain for the duration of the festival, which ends with a one hour showcase final concert concluding by 6 p.m.
Invitations are extended to choirs from throughout the northwest which have gained a reputation of excellence. Many past participants have commented on the extremely positive atmosphere of the festival - which, although a rating is given - focuses on the growth potential of each choir. The only two awards which are given focus on positivity and caring, rather than musical prowess. We know how early it is in the year, and hope this festival provides motivation to get out of the starting blocks quickly, while motivating singers to work hard for a successful 2014-2015 school year. Each year, we at CWU look forward to two days of inspired music making!
The entry fee is $275 – (not to be paid until being billed by CWU - in October)
Each school has 25 minutes on stage.. Choirs are encouraged to plan 10-15 minutes of music. This allows one of the adjudicators to spend 10-15 minutes on stage with the group making suggestions. Directly following is a 25 minute clinic in another room with a second clinician. Many past participants have commented on the value of having the chance to work with two different clinicians.
Video and audio recordings are made of both the performance and clinic.
TriStar Photography will be present to photograph your choral group.
