The CWU Fall Choral Classic will be postponed from 2021 until November of 2022 due to complications from the Covid 19 Virus situation. We encourage you to consider bringing your choir to the 2022 Fall Choral Classic and to read the following information which will be updated as it becomes available.
The Fall Choral Classic is a non-competitive festival designed to enhance open and honest exchange between the clinicians, the conductor and the students. Participation by school groups is by invitation only. This fun filled invitational festival takes place in the wonderful acoustical environment of CWU's Dr. Wayne S. Hertz Concert Hall.
Each of the two days is identical, with 12 choirs per day. All invited choirs are expected to arrive and be seated by 8:30 a.m. and remain for the duration of the festival, which ends with a one hour plus showcase final concert concluding by 6:00 p.m.
Invitations are extended to choirs from throughout the northwest which have gained a reputation of excellence. The only two awards which are given focus on positivity and caring, rather than musical prowess. We know how early it is in the year, and hope this festival provides motivation to get out of the starting blocks quickly, while motivating singers to work hard for a successful school year.
The day includes watching 3 highly experienced clinician/judges work with the choirs, and five CWU choral ensembles performing - 3 before lunch and, on the final host concert – CWU’s Vocal Jazz One and the CWU Chamber Choir, both known internationally!
The entry fee is $300
2019 Adjudicator/Clinicians (2021 TBA)
Dr. Leslie Guelker-Cone - Retired from Western Washington University
Mr. Kirk Marcy - Edmonds Community College
Dr. Tim Westerhaus - Gonzaga University
Each school has 25 minutes on stage. Choirs are encouraged to plan 10-15 minutes of music. This allows one of the adjudicators to spend 10-15 minutes on stage with the group making suggestions. Directly following is a 25 minute clinic in another room with a second clinician.
