Composer, violinist and violist Maria Newman will perform at two distinctly different events Saturday in Olympia.
First, she will perform a free concert at the Capitol Rotunda with flutist Hal Ott, violist Scott Hosfeld and members of the Central Washington University Flute Ensemble. To take advantage of the rotunda's acoustics, the musicians will use all sides and levels of the space under the dome, creating a "moving stage" that shifts during the concert.
The 2 p.m. Saturday concert is free, but seating is limited. Bring cushions to make seating on marble steps more comfortable.
