Typical Schedule

The internship at The Counseling Clinic is a twelve-month, 2000-hour internship. The training year runs from September through August. During the orientation period, you will work with your primary clinical supervisor and the Coordinator of Training to develop a weekly schedule specifying general responsibilities as well as those that may be unique to you. A typical week will include 44 hours (see footnote 1) of scheduled activities as follows (see footnote 2) :

  1. Additional hours may be necessary, depending on The Counseling Clinic needs and/or training requirements.
  2. Approximate distribution of hours without an optional rotation. Weekly schedule will be adjusted by primary supervisor when completing a rotation. Please note we are a high volume clinic and taking dissertation hours during regular business hours are rare. As an incentive to work on their dissertations, interns can count 2-3 hours a week of extra-clinic time spent on dissertation work toward their total internship hours. Interns who are most successful at completing their dissertations during internship are those who are beyond the proposal state by the start of the internship.
