School of Graduate Studies and Research

Graduate Student Travel Funds

Funding is available for graduate students who are presenting research or creative work from September 1 through June 30 each academic year. Graduate students may apply to the Graduate School for reimbursement of travel expenses up to $400. Students who are co-presenting the same research or creative work at the same venue with another CWU graduate student(s) must split the award equally between all co-presenters who apply for funding.

Graduate School travel funding may be utilized for the following expenditures: ground fare, airfare, lodging, and conference registrations. Per diem (meals) will not be reimbursed. Payment must occur within six months of the travel and within the same fiscal year (July 1 - June 30) as per CWU Travel Policies. All other policies and procedures related to travel will apply. For travel regulations please refer to CWU’s travel webpage:
https://www.cwu.edu/financial-affairs/travel

To request funding, please complete this Graduate Student Travel Award Application.

Upon receipt of a completed application, an email reply will be sent to the applicant with a commitment of funds and further instructions for preparation of the Travel Authorization Form and/or Travel Expense Report.

Please have the following information available prior to starting the application:

  • the particulars of the trip (conference name; date; location; title or description of work being presented; list of CWU student co-presenters, if applicable)
  • an attachment of some form of  proof of presentation (usually the acceptance email or copy of the agenda showing name and date/time of presentation)
  • letter of support from faculty mentor

Please do not send links to websites for programs or agendas; attach in pdf format only that portion of the agenda showing the applicant’s presentation information and the cover page showing the conference/venue details.
