External Funding for Faculty Research and Scholarly Activity

The Office of Sponsored Programs and University Research and Scholarship (SPURS) provides information on sources of funding for faculty research and scholarly activities. The office makes this information available in a variety of ways.

  • Individual Mailings -- SPURS maintains a database of faculty research interests. Program announcements are sent to targeted faculty and staff working in the announced program area or by request. Faculty who wish to receive announcements of specific programs or be added to the database should contact our office.
  • AASCU Grants Resource Center (GRC)-- The University is affiliated with the Office of Federal Programs of the American Association of State Colleges and Universities' Grants Resource Center. The GRC staff responds to questions related to any aspect of the federal grant process.  Please contact the SPURS office to facilitate contacting CWU's liaisons in the GRC.

Funding databases

SPURS subscribes to PIVOT, formerly Community of Science (COS), the most comprehensive source of funding information available on the Web. PIVOT allows faculty to build profiles of their educational history, research interests, publications, etc., and also to set up tailored searches for funding opportunities that match their interests. PIVOT will send faculty weekly updates of upcoming or newly announced funding opportunities that match the search criteria set up in their profiles.  PIVOT is available throught the Library's database page.  New users will need to create a username and password.

SPURS also provides access to the following databases for faculty to research external funding opportunities:
