Master of Professional Accountancy

The Department of Accounting offers a master of professional accountancy degree. The program’s objective is to help students increase their knowledge about accounting and business, while developing skills in critical thinking, oral and written communications, teamwork, and the use of information technology to research and analyze accounting and business issues. MPA graduates will be able to identify and resolve such issues in a manner that complies with professional standards.

The program is a 46 credit-hour program.  Students should be able to complete the program in one academic year if you:

• Have an undergraduate degree in accounting.
• Enroll as a full-time student (3 courses per term), and
• Are not employed fulltime.

The MPA program satisfies the fifth-year education requirement adopted to date by 48 states, including the State of Washington, for licensure as a CPA and by the AICPA as a requirement for membership. Any individual sitting for the first time for the CPA examination in Washington must have completed a minimum of five years college-level education.
