Manastash Call for Submissions 2015-16 Themed issue: "Mass Incarceration and Racial Justice - Black and Brown Lives Do Matter." (Non-themed material will also be considered)
Manastash is the campus literary journal, published annually since 1990. Submissions are open to any current CWU student from November 16, 2015 to January 29, 2016.
Writers: We are seeking poems, short stories, creative non-fiction pieces, photography, graphic design, visual art, and academic writing. (each piece should be under 4,000 words). All work should be in Microsoft Word format (doc, docx).
Please include your name, CWU email address, and title on a cover sheet. Your name should not appear on the work itself.
Visual Artists: Contributions must be submitted in digital form at a resolution of at least 300 dpi, with target dimensions of 5.5"w x 8.5"h. Artwork submitted at dimensions higher than this may be subject to cropping or other changes to accommodate the magazine's layout. When photographing artwork, please use indirect lighting of the work to avoid creating glare in the final image. You may submit in jpg, PSD, or tiff formats. Your CWU user name should be in the document filename (for example, "smithjos_painting.jpg").
Submission Policy: Each work must be completed as a separate submission. The Manastash staff will only review the first seven (total) submissions of an artist/author. The Manastash staff will review and select work during winter quarter. If your work is selected for publication, the Manastash staff will notify you.
Some materials, especially short stories and creative non-fiction, may require modest modification to conform to the journal's style standards. Usually these modifications regard issues of spelling, punctuation, and titling. If your work is selected and requires any adjustments, the Manastash Editorial Staff will send you a marked version for approval and amendment before going to publication.
By submitting this work, you agree that you are the original author and have exclusive rights for publication.
The 2016 edition will publish in May and will be presented at SOURCE and featured at a campus/community reading.
If you have questions about Manastash or the submission process, please contact the Manastash staff (email@example.com).
